Sayonara, healthy diet

Whoever said it was easy to stay vegetarian in Tokyo (okay, it was Rachel) obviously never tried it while holding down a job that gives you 39-minute lunchbreaks. In a city where you can't read menus.

Stay tuned for next month's entry, in which I just give up and start chain-smoking.

All is not lost. At least if you start chain smoking it will help out the vegetarian cause. Cigarettes are a great appetite suppressant. You'll be down to eating once a day before you know it.

Hmm... Spoken like a true former vegetarian who smokes.

granted, i had my host mom cooking breakfast and dinners for me, but something along the lines of "sumimasen kedo, yasai dake taberaremasu..." might help you quite a bit. (you may still wind up eating a little fish, but you already do that anyways)

Eating one vegatarian meal is way less healthy than three omnivore meals. There's a reason why food tastes good!

So, the McDonald's in Japan has a "tofu sandwich" listed on its menu. While this is a perfect example of how "vegetarian" and "healthy" can sometimes be two unrelated concepts, I decided to try one anyway.

It was chicken-fried tofu.
