Forlorn

Sylvia's going home. She doesn't want to leave, but her visa's run out. Tonight was her last night in Japan.

Karaoke!

No one's been more of a friend to me in this country than you, Sylvia. I will miss you.

1. Okay, you got me. I briefly had one friend, who is now gone. Thanks for reminding me.

2. No. Why, do you know any?

That's not true.

As I've mentioned in previous entries, most of our students are housewives, salarymen and junior high school students. You wouldn't want to sleep with most of them. Anyway, socializing with your students (in any capacity) is a fireable offense at Nova.

Teachers fill their romantic needs according to their tastes. Some prefer an endless string of sleazy one-nighters--that's why we have Roppongi. Others meet their partners the old-fashioned way, through mutual friends, and settle into conventional relationships. Still others rely on bars, clubs or the classifieds. Sure, some do get involved with their students.

As far as what Japanese women go for, keep in mind that the non-Japanese population of Japan is well under 1%, and most of those are Korean. So if all the Japanese females were hot for Western men, there'd be a lot of frustrated women out there.
